The STM32L10x microcontroller is very large family of a Cortex M3-based MCU from STMicroelectronics. STM32F1's are mature and somewhat ubiquitous, but they do not have very good low-power performance – that is, they cannot retain more than a few bytes of SRAM during low power modes. Therefore, the STM32F1 series is not tremendously interesting as a platform for battery-powered applications. However, the large developer community, plethora of dev kits, low cost, and exceptional performance make it pretty great for mains-powered applications.
